Resin Tutorial: Pastel Cat Magnets

For this project you will need these craft supplies:

  • epoxy resin
  • mixing cups
  • mixing sticks
  • circle silicone mold
  • cat stickers
  • iridescent paw confetti
  • pearl hearts and bows
  • white resin dye
  • mint green pearl resin pigment
  • lilac resin pigment
  • white pearlescent resin pigment
  • iridescent white fine glitter
  • iridescent white cellophane flakes
  • magnets x 3

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare resin as per manufacturer's instructions.

Step 2: Pour a thin layer of clear resin into the silicone mold. 

 

 

Step 3: Embed the stickers into the resin by inserting them into the resin at angle. Then using a toothpick, gently push the sticker downwards and make sure that it is fully submerged into the resin. Move the sticker to place it at the desired spot.

Step 4: Embed the pearl embellishments by submerging them into the resin. Use a toothpick to push them into the resin and for placing them.

Step 5: Add the paw confetti by sprinkling them on or by using a toothpick.

Step 6: Wait for the resin to cure.

 

 

Step 7: Prepare a batch of clear resin as per manufacturer's instructions.

Step 8: Divide the clear resin into 3 mixing cups.

Step 9: To the first cup add lilac pigment, iridescent white glitter and iridescent cellophane flakes.

Step 10: To the second cup add green pigment, white pigment, iridescent white glitter and iridescent cellophane flakes.

Step 11: To the third mixing cup add white pigment, pearl white pigment, iridescent white glitter and iridescent cellophane flakes

 

 

Step 12: Mix each cup well making sure to thoroughly and evenly distribute the pigments into the resin.

 

 

Step 13: Pour the resin mixtures into the silicone mold. 

Step 14: Wait for the resin to cure.

 

 

Step 15: Once the resin has fully cured, de-mold the resin pieces from the silicone mold.

 

 

Step 16: Prepare your magnet and stick/glue it on to the back of the resin pieces.

 

 

Step 17: Repeat step 16 for all resin pieces.
