Tutorial: Making Cosmos Charms with Epoxy Resin

Here's a step by step tutorial for making your own cosmos charms using epoxy resin. It's a 3 stage process but so worth it once you've finished making them. They're so beautiful!

The first stage will consist of creating the super sparkly clear bezels. Then the second stage is to fill the bezel part with colored resin and finally doming with clear resin and adding the gold embellishments. At the end of this tutorial you'll also find a link to a video showing me make these beautiful cosmos charms.

The supplies needed for this project are as follows:

Feel free to use any color scheme that you'd like. I find that the clear bezel creates a very nice effect so I suggest going for a clear bezel, but then the inside colors can be changed and you'll still get the same effect as shown in this tutorial.

Instructions

Step 1: Gather all of your supplies

Step 2: Prepare a batch of epoxy resin.

Step 3: Add iridescent white glitter and cellophane flakes to the resin and mix well.

Step 4: Pour the resin into the silicone molds.

Step 5: Wait for the resin to cure.

Step 6: When the resin has cured, de-mold the bezels from the silicone molds.

Step 7: Prepare another small batch of resin and divide it into two mixing cups.

Step 8: To one of the cups add the purple pigment, and any glitter if you'd like. Mix well.

Step 9: To the other cup add blue pigment and optionally some glitter. Mix well.

Step 10: This step is optional - add gold stars to some of the bezel charms.

Step 11: Pour the colored resin mixes into the bezel charms. You can opt to add just one color or a mix of both. For adding two colors to the same bezel, pour each color from opposite sides.

I added some colored resin to the star and circle indents in the UFO bezel charms as well.

Step 12: When you've finished adding the colored resin to all of your bezel charms, wait for the resin to cure.

Step 13: Mix another batch of clear epoxy resin.

Step 14: Dome the charms with the clear resin and add the gold moons and stars.

Step 15: Wait for the doming resin layer to cure.

Step 16: When the final layer has finished curing your cosmos charms are complete.

I am planning to make a sun catcher with mine. What will you be doing with your cosmos charms? Let me know in the comments below. I would love to know and you might also inspire some other fellow crafters as well 😊
